Just remember that unlike a marriage, children need to grow apart from their parents. It is only after that initial split, that how you've parented really shines through.

Your children will stay present in your world, much as you did in theirs, when they were young.

They actually discover you're a person, not just a parent, and they like you and choose to spend time with you. The connection changes but the bond is cemented.
