Well written and very thoughtful, on a particularly touchy subject.

This is a hard one to respond to, as I lost both my parents to brain cancer, and the personality transformations were horrific. It’s still hard reconciling those final months with the years before and it sometimes colours the good memories with a cloudy shade of grey. Things are said, and done, that can’t be taken back.

I strongly believe in the freedom to call your own shots, when the time comes. Hopefully the living will (no machines and an airtight DNR) and the wishes I’ve shared (regarding what I consider an acceptable quality of life) with those that matter, both through conversation and in writing, will make sure I end as myself, with dignity and compassion.
